Help the Kids on the Street Produce Season 2 →
You guys remember that I’m part of a movie riffing troupe called The Kids on the Street? We released an entire riff for free recently. If you’ve got around 30 minutes, give it a watch at the end of this post.

People are acting like using shame to attack overweight people is a new idea.

Out of Print?
That would be 1990’s Captain America, starring Matt “My father is J.D.” Salinger as Captain America and directed by Albert Pyun - who also directed Cyborg, Kickboxer 4, and Alien From L.A. The shoestring superhero flick wrapped production in 1990 and two years later was dumped on the direct-to-video market.

Trillions for Defense, Not One Cent for...
You might remember that a study showed Americans vastly overestimate the amount of money public broadcasting gets — and yet they still feel it should receive more.

Missing the obvious solution
In an interview with the L.A. Times, Dan DiDio speaks frankly about DC’s planned relaunch.
He points out that DC has been steadily losing readers over the past few years. He places the blame on two factors. One: Comics have been slow to embrace digital. Two: The narrative of the superhero comics has become too complex for casual readers to get into.

Lesson Learned Today
I had my car inspected yesterday, and after replacing my license plate bulbs the car passed.
This morning, my right low beam was burnt out.
That’s right, my right low beam lasted just long enough for the car to pass inspection.
So I went to buy a bulb after looking in the manual and assuring myself this was a repair I could make.

Best. Movie. EVAR.
A while back, I bought a Blu-Ray player that was 3-D capable.
(Relax, I don’t have a 3-D TV… yet)
As a promotion, Panasonic offered to send me a copy of Avatar on Blu-Ray 3-D.
I sent in my card with my proof of purchase.
Today, UPS delivered the disc.
And this note.
Now, I’m all for marketing hyperbole.
And I actually quite like Avatar.

A Boon For TV Detective Shows
By now, you’ve probably heard something about Lytro - it’s been making the rounds.
In case you haven’t heard, Lytro is a startup that’s producing a digital camera that records light fields.
This means you can actually refocus an image after the fact.
All you have to do is click on the section of the picture you want in focus.
